Directed by Fred Hughes, the Columbia Jazz Band is in its 38th year and performs a diverse mix of big band jazz at concerts throughout the greater Washington D.C. area. Notable performances include featured artist concerts with saxophonist Pete BarenBregge, vocalist Delores King Williams, and four-time Grammy winner Gordon Goodwin, as well as multiple performances at Slayton House, Rouse Theater, the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, the True Blue Jazz Festival, Columbia Festival of the Arts, Columbia Lakefront Concert Series, and the legendary Blues Alley Jazz Club. Five international tours have included performances across Austria, Croatia, England, France, Germany, Italy, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey. Highlights include the prestigious Montreux International Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Bulls Head Jazz Club (London), Wigan Jazz Festival (Manchester), Istanbul Jazz Festival (Turkey), Umbria Jazz Festival (Italy), Jazz à Juan (France), Jazzaldia Festival (Spain) and Jazz à Vienne (France).
